Sweden's Economy Continues to Outperform

By December 7, 2012

Follow me on:

Sweden's economy expanded by 0.5% during the third quarter, compared to the second quarter, and jumped 0.7%, compared to the prior year. While the performance remains sluggish, the growth rates surpassed economist expectations, as household consumption led growth.

In its 2013 budget, the country's government predicted growth of 1.6% this year, 2.7% next year and 3.7% in 2014. However, Sweden's economy has been hurt by the eurozone crisis, with its export-centric economy, which could lead to some downgrades.
